Statements of Belief

BELIEFS OF FELLOWSHIP OF HIS PRESENCE

GOD

  • Our God is the one and only true God. (Isaiah 44:8)
  • God is a triune God: Father, Son and Holy Spirit (1 John 5:7)
  • God is eternal.  He always was, always is and always will be. (Isaiah 43:10-11)
  • God is the creator of all that is made. (John 1:1-3)

JESUS:

  • Jesus is the Savior of the world.  He was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, fully God and fully man, suffered, died, and was buried to pay the debt for the sins of all mankind, descended into hell and rose on the 3rd day.  He ascended into heaven, is seated at the right hand of the Father where He intercedes for us and will return to judge evil and good. (1Timothy 2:5-6; Matthew 1:20-23; John 1:14; 1 Peter 3:22; Hebrews 7:25; Colossians 3:1)

THE HOLY SPIRIT:

  • The Holy Spirit is alive and active today.  He is our comforter.  He convicts us of our sins, leads us into all truth, empowers, equips, guides and teaches. (Ephesians 3:16; John 14:26; Acts 9:31; John 16:13)
  • The gifts of the Spirit such as wisdom, knowledge, faith, healing, miracles, prophecy and speaking in tongues are all given by the same Spirit to edify the individual and the body of Christ.  (1 Corinthians 12:4-11)

HOLY SCRIPTURE:

  • The Holy Scripture is the inspired Word of God. (2 Timothy 3:16-17)
  • The Holy Scripture, God’s Word, is unchanging. (James 1:17; Malachi 3:6)

FALL OF MAN AND PLAN OF SALVATION:

  • Man’s created nature was good. (Genesis 1:26-27)
  • Man, of his own free will, chose disobedience and fell from purity and innocence. (Romans 5:19)
  • Man’s disobedience resulted in both physical and spiritual death. (Genesis 3:19)
  • The only hope for man’s sinful state was for Jesus to suffer the consequences for man’s disobedience in his place. (Isaiah 53:5; Titus 2:14)
  • Jesus, knowing man’s free will would cause him to fail, before creation chose to leave His heavenly realm in due season, suffer and die to pay the debt for sin. (Revelation 13:8)
  • Man’s repentance and acceptance of Jesus Christ as Lord is the only way for redemption and the hope of restored relationship with God.  (John 14:6)
  • Redemption is a gift of the grace of God through the believer’s faith.  It cannot be earned. (Ephesians 2:8-9)

CHRISTIAN LIFE:

  • WATER BAPTISM is an outward sign of obedience that the believer has put to death a life of sin.  (Romans 6:4)
  • BAPTISM OF THE HOLY SPIRIT is a separate event from salvation and water baptism.  It releases the power of the Holy Spirit for life and ministry.  (Luke 24:49; Acts 19:1-7)
  • COMMUNION, partaking of the bread and the cup, in remembrance of the Lord’s suffering, death, burial and resurrection should be shared often within the body with all reverence.  (1 Corinthians 11:26-28)
  • ASSEMBLING together on a regular basis to edify and encourage one another; to join together in worship, fellowship, and the proclamation of the gospel; is our calling as the body of Christ, His beloved bride. (Psalms 111:1; Acts 2:42; Romans 12:5; Hebrews 10:24-25)
  • OUR COMMISSION as believers is to seek and to save that which was lost, making disciples of all nations. (Matthew 28:18-19; Mark 16:15; Acts 1:8)

HEAVEN AND HELL:

  • Heaven is the glorious habitation of the living God, absent of any evil, and those that have repented and made Jesus the Lord of their lives will live eternally with God after the death of their earthly body. (1 Corinthians 2:9; Revelation 7:15-17, 21:4)
  • Hell is a place of darkness and deepest sorrow and regret, eternally separate from God.  Satan, his angels and all those that chose to reject the salvation paid by the sacrifice of Jesus Christ will live there forever, where there shall be weeping and wailing and gnashing of teeth.  (Matthew 13:41-42, 25:41; Revelation 20:10, 15)

THE BLESSED HOPE:

  • The resurrection of those who have fallen asleep in Christ and their translation together with those who are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord is the imminent and blessed hope of the Church.  (Acts 1:6-11; 1Thessalonians 4:16,17; Romans 8:23; Zechariah 14:4)
  • The Millennial Kingdom of Christ is a 1000-year reign during which Jesus will reign in peace over all the nations of the world and Satan will be bound. (Revelation 20:1-3)
  • At the end of the world, Jesus will judge every person, who has lived and separate believers from non believers.  (Acts 17:31; John 5:22; 2 Corinthians 5:10; Revelation 20:11-15)
